They have 3 children, the first two sons are also in the medical field- the first one is a physiotherapist and the second one is a Medical Doctor doing his post graduation in CMC, Vellore. Dr. Babu and Sally moved to the Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu in 1987 to serve among the unreached tribals. During those days, the people lacked medical care of any kind. They had to travel to bigger towns like Ooty and Coimbatore to get treated.

ORIGIN OF THE CLINIC

The clinic they started to function in a small single room adjacent to their rented house in 1993 was functioning more than a full-fledged hospital.  They used to deliver babies, do minor surgical procedures, manage simple bone fractures with POP immobilization, tooth extraction etc.. . In this clinic cum dispensary cum labor room cum dressing room, they had to do skin grafting, simple amputations, patella repair, tendon suturing etc ….

THE EXISTING HOSPITAL

After the existing  property was purchased in 2000, the first structure that they constructed was the clinic building with three rooms- consulting room, dressing room, dispensing room and the patient waiting room. There are a total of 5 support staff in the hospital. Now because of the influx of more patients, this facility has become so limited and the patients have to wait outside the hospital in the open air. An average of 50 to 60 patients attend the OP every day. The hospital and the service given to the villagers here are a real blessing to them, who otherwise would have to travel long distances through dense jungles for their medical needs. Many lives have been saved and the service goes on.
